TN Visa

What is a TN Visa? A TN visa is a non-immigrant visa for Mexicans and Canadian citizens. Under the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) Mexicans and Canadians are permitted to come to the United States on a TN status to engage in certain professional activities as defined by the NAFTA. THe activities as defined by NAFTA must be at a professional level, requiring at least a college degree or appropriate credentials. Differences between TN and H1B visa There are many similarities and differences between H1B and TN visas. Before considering a TN visa, you should also consider whether a H1B visa is a better option for you based on your specific circumstances. TN Visa
1. Non-Immigrant Visa. 2. Professional Employment. 3. Issue/valid for a limited period of time. 4. Covers broader range of job categories. 5. May be renewable indefinitely. 6. Intent to work in the US only.
H1B Visa
1. Non-immigrant Visa. 2. Professional Employment. 3. Issue/valid for a limited period of time. 4. Covers narrower range of job categories. 5. Renewable up to 6 years. 6. Dual intent to work and live permanently in the US is permitted.
