IMMIGRATION LAW FIRM
CONNECTING IMMIGRANTS TO AMERICA
Change of Status - Overview
A non-immigrant (or in some cases the non-immigrant’s employer) that
enters the United States for a specific intended purpose that wants to
remain in the United States for a different purpose must apply to change
their status so as to stay in the United States legally.  For example, a
student that enters the United States on a F1 Visa may find a job or get
married.  In that case, the non-immigrant must formally apply with the
United States to change their status to the appropriate non-immigrant or
immigrant status. The Immigration and Nationality Act and Code of
Federal Regulations has detailed rules and regulations in which Non-
Immigrant classes can and cannot change status.

If you would like to change your status while in the United States, contact
Cipolla & Pelud P.C. for a consultation.
